Copperleaf Hosts First AIPM Symposium in Malaysia
On 3rd August 2023, Copperleaf® hosted its first AIPM Symposium in Malaysia! After successful Forums in Copenhagen, Hamburg, and Paris, we brought the Asset Investment Planning and Management (AIPM) community together in Kuala Lumpur to network, share and learn. In collaboration with the High Commission of Canada in Malaysia and Malaysia Canada Business Council, the event gathered thought leaders from the water, electric, oil and gas, and transportation sectors to discuss “Making Better Decisions for Critical Infrastructure”.
We started the day with a networking breakfast, where attendees were able to connect with peers to explore investment challenges and opportunities. This informal setting allowed companies from the utilities, water, oil and gas, and transportation sectors to share common ground, exchange best practices, and offer insight into their approach to asset investment planning. (AIP). Naneecharam Muniandy, Trade Commissioner at High Commission of Canada in Malaysia, and Faridah Iskandar, Head, Southeast Asia at Copperleaf, welcomed attendees and thanked them for their participation, emphasised the importance of decision making for asset-intensive organisations, and spoke on the need for advanced asset management solutions.

Out of the Shadows: Shining a Light on the Value of Capital Spend
Organisational strategy and capital spend are often disconnected—from how value is perceived differently across different departments, to disconnected planning processes and siloed decision making. Tenaga Nasional Berhad Grid’s Journey to Value-Based Decision Making
Aiman Azha, Asset Investment Planning Executive at Tenaga Nasional Berhad’s Grid Division, who has worked on their Copperleaf implementation project since its inception, guided the audience through the company’s transformative journey from Risk-Based Decision Making (RBDM) to Value-Based Decision Making. Previously relying on spreadsheets for evaluating and monitoring investments based on RBDM, TNB Grid has now integrated the Copperleaf Decision Analytics Solution into its digital transformation journey.
This has resulted in a systematic and consistent approach to investment decision making, greater transparency in investment proposals presented to energy regulator, and a heightened focus on realising value for every dollar spent on assets. Moreover, this shift has enabled TNB Grid to devise long-term and efficient investment strategies while proactively managing risk.
